It’s always the best experiences that leave me speechless for days after. I came home Tuesday evening from the Creative @ Heart Conference not really being able to put into words how inspiring it left me feeling, or just how excited I was to meet and make friends with such incredible creatives, or how fired up I felt about this upcoming wedding season!
I want you to just picture this for a second… sequined linens, big cold chargers, a perfectly frosted cake with the most adorable laser cut wooden topper saying “better together,” gorgeous florals, and light streaming in through gigantic windows. Beautiful, right? Now add in seven new girlfriends, laughter, and big dreams and that’s what C@H was. It was the most amazing two days (plus two extra days of treacherous road trips, a mini boudoir shoot, Target runs, Italian dinners, and the best quality time!) of inspiration and dream sharing with like-minded women that felt more like old friends than industry peers.
And those women… you don’t even know. Film and digital photographers whose work makes me heart skip a beat, graphic/web/stationary designers whose brands stop me in my tracks and make me really feel something, wedding and event planners whose thoughtful styling pulls together pieces of relationships and memories that are often overlooked.
The extraordinary creatives I shared my days with will forever inspire me to push myself and my business to new heights and I don’t know if there are words for me to really share my thanks for that.
My sweet friend, Kat, from Dear Sweetheart Events gave the most incredible presentation at the very end of the conference and challenged us to dream big dreams and to be intentional with the season of life we are in. My goodness, friends. Those words couldn’t have been any closer to what I needed to hear! I just finished my first season as a wedding and boudoir photographer and it took me those twelve months to be brave enough to say confidently that I’m a photographer when someone new asks what I do. I never say “and I’m a teacher by trade” anymore and it’s more and more rare that I add “oh, and I’m a full time nanny.” This is who I am now. I’m a wedding and boudoir photographer and while there are other pieces of my life that have shaped me, this is who I am and who I want to be.
I am a photographer, a small business owner, and a passionate creative.
Please enjoy some of my favorite iPhone pictures from C@H! And thank you A.J. Dunlap for the best group photo from our first dinner together!
